Senufo Tribe Ivory Coast Hornbill Figure
Hornbill figures called Setian or Porpianong were used by the Lo and Poro societies. A symbol of fertitility and the original ancestor cult, the hornbill was the mythological founder of the Senufo people, Ivory Coast, Africa, the wooden carving is clad in hand-hammered brass sheets, 48cm in height, 22cm wide.
